The excellent Château d'Ampuis is sourced consistently from seven vineyards in the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. The wine is positioned between the single vineyard wines and their Côte Brune et Blonde bottling and referred to as 'Junior La La' by the Guigals. Château d'Ampuis is, in its own right, a terrific, highly rated wine and as you will learn: eminently well suited to aging.
This tasting will include a nine vintage vertical of Château d'Ampuis starting with 1995, the first vintage Guigal produced followed by vintage 1997. With the superb 1998 vintage, the tasting will take an interesting twist to include the 1998 Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde, 1998 d'Ampuis, and 1998 La Landonne, (a Parker hundred pointer). The d'Ampuis vertical will then continue with 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and finish with 2012.
All the wines are from Fred Ek's personal cellar, none of which appeared in his sold out Guigal Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage seminar at last year's Expo 2016.
Don't wait to purchase tickets to this one. They will be among the first to sellout.
